I am a mother to a trans-son. I’m a proud LGBTQ+ Ally. I was by my son’s side throughout his transition journey. January 29, 2020 he had his top surgery. I think that was the most beautiful part to see. The more he felt like himself, the more confidence and proud he was. I want anyone who feels insecure or doesn’t have a strong support circle to know I pray for you all. Don’t stop being your true self. It is so unfair the way you are being targeted, and please understand none of this is because you deserve it. You are beautiful, unique, and strong enough to be yourself in the face of so many critics. We find solace in our own community during these tough times, and elder trans people like myself are doing what we can to create a safer world for you. When I think of what you must be going through now it breaks my heart. I'm a mom and I live in a southern state. I vote and support what is best for trans (and all) youth. Everywhere, even in the reddest of places, there are people who accept and care about trans youth.

As a queer woman living in Massachusetts,I am angry and sorry that there's a trans healthcare ban where you live. You deserve access to the care that you need and to live as your most authentic self. I want you to know that you matter and are loved. I'm going to keep fighting in Massachusetts and at the federal level for trans rights.

I'm writing in from South Carolina. I want you all to know that I think what is happening in our state is atrocious, and a LOT of my friends feel the same way. I'm a 40 year old mom ready to do battle on behalf of the trans kids in this state. As far as I am concerned, y'all all my kids! Dear young person, I have been where you are. I have felt as a teen that no one was in my corner and the whole world was against me. I'm here to tell you that is not true. Trans adults across the US and across the world, including me, are thinking of you every day and fighting for your rights. I will always be in your corner. I am out meeting with Congress members directly, protesting on the streets, donating to organizations committed to helping you, engaging in direct actions. I will not stop fighting. I will fight tooth and nail for you until my last breath. I know it feels slow right now and like progress isn't being made as fast as it should be, but I promise you I am not going to give up on you. The one thing I want you to remember most is that trans joy is a radical act of resistance. Do not let them steal your joy. Take your time to grieve, to be furious, to be heartbroken, but grab onto any moment of joy you can and hold fast to it. That is your most important job right now. I'm a therapist and work mostly with trans people. I'm 67 years old, an artist, gardener and transguy. I was 41 years old when I had the opportunity to transition. There were obstacles to living a trans life when I was younger (no trans community, no internet, lots of gatekeeping), and different obstacles now. The current hatred, ignorance and anti-trans legislation is a backlash to the incredible power, creativity and visibility of trans people. We need to keep our sense of power, support each other and work for our rights. Your life is worth living and fighting for. Don't give up.

Right now is a really scary time to be trans, nonbinary, or queer, and I wish I could take that fear away for you. I promise you that things will get better and we will keep fighting. You are beautiful and incredible just the way you are and there are so many people out there who support you. Stay strong and know you are loved!

Dear young person, I have been where you are. I have felt as a teen that no one was in my corner and the whole world was against me. I'm here to tell you that is not true. I am out meeting with Congress members directly, protesting on the streets, donating to organizations committed to helping you, engaging in direct actions. I will not stop fighting. I will fight tooth and nail for you until my last breath. I know it feels slow right now and like progress isn't being made as fast as it should be, but I promise you I am not going to give up on you. The one thing I want you to remember most is that trans joy is a radical act of resistance. Do not let them steal your joy. Take your time to grieve, to be furious, to be heartbroken, but grab onto any moment of joy you can and hold fast to it. That is your most important job right now. Stay alive, we love you and need you in this world.

But I am here to tell you that you are worth EVERYTHING, and no matter how hard these next four years are, you must hang on, because YOU MATTER, and you are loved, and people all around the country are fighting to protect you. Please as much as you can tune out the hate, and hold onto the belief that things are going to get better. We are going to make this world better for you. Don't give up, and remember always that you're perfect exactly as you are.

Please know that so many of us over here are worried about you, care about you and are here for you. We are parents of our trans son, T who is 27 and struggles with mental health issues.
