Resources for Transgender Youth & Families in Texas Impacted by SB14

SB14 is a gender affirming care ban currently in effect in Texas. The law prohibits Texas healthcare professionals from providing medically necessary healthcare for trans adolescents for the treatment of gender dysphoria – and threaten doctors’ licenses if they do. This makes care such as gender-affirming surgery, gender-affirming hormone therapy, and puberty blockers inaccessible in Texas for any trans person until they turn 18. Youth can still access mental health care, which is not restricted or banned by this law.

The Campaign for Southern Equality is working with partners across Texas, including Equality Texas and the Transgender Education Network of Texas, to provide resources and information to impacted families. Please use this form below to request more information.

Resource Guides to for SB14

We know this is a very challenging time filled with many questions. TENT (Transgender Education Network of Texas), Equality Texas, ACLU of Texas and other partners are developing resource guides, one pagers, and know your rights training with up-to-date information and concrete resources about the law and how families can get support. These guides are coming soon. In the meantime, check out www.TXtranskids.org, which contains additional resources for transgender youth in Texas.

Understanding Other Anti-LGBTQ+ Laws in Texas

There were 140+ anti-LGBTQ+ bills filed in 2023 during the 88th Texas Legislative Session. SB14 is one of 7 anti-LGBTQ+ bills passed in Texas during the 2023 legislative session. To understand the full slate of legislation filed in Texas, visit the Equality Texas website, which hosts a legislative tracker.

Patient Navigation for Out-of-State Care & Emergency Grants for Impacted Families

Looking to identify a health care provider outside of Texas? The Campaign for Southern Equality  can connect you to a patient navigator who can help talk through your situation, and identify a plan to access care from affirming providers in other states. We are also accepting requests for rapid response emergency grants of $500 to help parents and caregivers to youth directly impacted by SB14 during this challenging time. Grants can be made to the parent/caregiver of an impacted youth. To request support with patient navigation and emergency funding, fill out the form below.

Send a Message About These Resources

This form is intended for transgender individuals (especially those under the age of 18) and their parents/caretakers impacted by the passage of SB14, which prohibits transgender-related healthcare in Texas for people under the age of 18. After filling out this form, a representative of Campaign for Southern Equality will reach out to you via email or phone and begin assisting you.
