A Note from Campaign for Southern Equality As We Recover from the Storm

September 28, 2024 in News by Adam Polaski

We are sending strength and solidarity to everyone impacted by Hurricane Helene.

The storm has devastated communities across the Southeast, including Western NC where CSE is based. We are sending love and support to everyone impacted – and encourage everyone to follow guidance from local officials, continue reaching out to friends and neighbors, and being attentive to emerging relief efforts.

As the recovery process gets underway and most of our team grapples with power and service outages and property damage, much of the Campaign for Southern Equality’s programming will be paused, and our office will be closed.

We will continue to provide navigation support, information, and funding to families of transgender youth through our Trans Youth Emergency Project, but communications and grant processing may be delayed. We ask for your patience as we sort through the work ahead.

Our Trans Kids, Our Kids book tour events this week in Shepherdstown, WV; Chapel Hill and Raleigh, NC; and Nashville, TN will proceed as planned; many of our team members leading those events were already out of the impacted area when the storm hit.

Email [email protected] with any questions – and please continue to do all you can to support folks through this crisis
