On February 22, 2011, Asheville City Council passed an Equality Resolution by a 5 to 1 margin. Introduced by People of Faith for Just Relationships (PFJR), the resolution involves the city acting to: expand employment protection to include gender identity and gender expression; pass an anti-bullying ordinance for city grounds and facilities; establish a domestic partnership registry; and endorse full marriage equality for same-sex couples.
