Two anti-transgender healthcare bills, H808 and S631, are quickly moving through the NC General Assembly and could result in a ban on the initiation of all gender-affirming care, including hormone therapy and puberty blockers, for trans people under 18 – and disrupt existing care for hundreds of families in North Carolina. HB808 was originally passed in the House as a more limited bill restricting gender-affirming surgery only, but it has since been expanded, and S631 would prohibit facilities that receive public funding from providing care.
We know that families have questions about this legislation – and how they can prepare. That’s why this Thursday, June 29th at 6pm ET, ACLU of NC, Campaign for Southern Equality, Equality NC, and Planned Parenthood South Atlantic are hosting a virtual event focused on helping families understand the legislation and navigate access to gender-affirming care, while offering community support and answering questions.
At the event, we will discuss resources available, including patient navigation support, referrals to out-of-state gender-affirming care, and emergency grants for families of transgender youth. There will be plenty of time for questions.
Habrá interpretación en español.
Please RSVP, and we’ll send you the dial-in information ahead of the Town Hall.
