Meeting the Moment in the LGBTQ South

The Campaign for Southern Equality is working to build a South where LGBTQ people are equal in every part of life. A South where your zip code doesn’t determine your rights. Where all of us are free to be who we truly are and love who we truly love. At this unprecedented time of anti-LGBTQ attacks – and as public support for LGBTQ equality across the South continues to grow – we invite you to join us in Meeting the Moment in the LGBTQ South.


Meeting the Moment in the LGBTQ South

Despite resounding national support for LGBTQ equality, we face unrelenting political attacks from far right extremists and are clearly in a new chapter in the movement for LGBTQ equality. That’s why we’re inviting you to join us in Meeting the Moment in the LGBTQ South. Let’s empower LGBTQ Southerners to Take Action, Take Care, and Take Steps to Prepare.

Southern Trans Youth Emergency Project

The Southern Trans Youth Emergency Project is a new regional effort that provides rapid response support – including emergency grants and patient navigation – directly to the families of trans youth who are impacted by anti-transgender healthcare bans in the South. Together, we can help youth access the care they need and deserve, even in the face of oppressive laws.

A South Where All of Us Can Thrive

The South is changing due to the courage of the LGBTQ community. We’re working to accelerate that by:

Funding & Training

grassroots organizers and activists to support a new generation of LGBTQ leaders.

Providing Easy Access

to resources and direct services for LGBTQ folks in the South.

Engaging in Rapid Response

organizing in response to immediate political threats and building political power through long-term strategies.

Our work is rooted in empathy and in commitments to equity in race, gender, and class.

Southern Equality Fund

The Southern Equality Fund (SEF) provides funding and training to Southern LGBTQ folks doing heroic organizing in their hometowns. We prioritize work addressing the intersections of race, class and gender in the lives of LGBTQ Southerners. We also prioritize groups and individual leaders whose access to funding and support is limited due to barriers such as not having 501c3 status, or being located in a rural area.
