Meet Eric and Tammy. They live in Boston, are raising 3 amazing kids, and are allies who, for the second year running, have stepped up in an inspiring way to support CSE’s work.
Eric and Tammy calculated the amount they saved by filing taxes as a married couple. Then, they donated this amount to CSE to help achieve full federal equality for LGBT people and families. Because the federal government doesn’t recognize the marriages of same-sex couples, LGBT families can’t file federal taxes as married.
Allies play a vital role in CSE’s work and, today, we’re asking married allies to consider stepping up like Eric and Tammy have. Will you make a donation to CSE today?
. . . we want to draw attention to this discrimination in a very clear way: these discriminatory laws cost some couples money and benefit other couples. The best way to fix it is to transfer our unfair benefit to folks who are working to change the system. We encourage others to do the same.

When we first talked about getting married it was clear that, although Massachusetts has marriage equality, much of the rest of the country does not. And, as an inter-racial couple, it wasn’t that long ago that our marriage would have been illegal in many states.
