“Voter ID” laws are now in effect in nearly every Southern state. North Carolina’s districts have been gerrymandered so egregiously that they’re at the center of a U.S. Supreme Court case. And many states have created new barriers to registration or early voting.
The voting rights landscape has been very dark in recent years – and that’s why we were inspired to see the U.S. House of Representatives last week approve what experts are calling the “most significant democracy reform bill in a generation.”
