SB150 is a sweeping anti-LGBTQ+ bill – with several components that impact gender-affirming care for transgender youth. The bill prohibits gender-affirming healthcare in Kentucky for people under the age of 18, including puberty-delaying medications, hormone therapy, and surgery. The law is currently in effect.
Youth can still access mental health care, which is not restricted or banned by this law. Youth and their families may also travel to access care in other states where gender-affirming care has not been restricted.
The Campaign for Southern Equality and the Kentucky Health Justice Network are working with partners across Kentucky to provide resources and information to impacted families.
