Latest on Anti-Gay Amendment in NC

March 1, 2011 in Act Fast by Jasmine Beach-Ferrara

This News and Observer article includes a thorough run down of where things stand with the anti-gay amendment that’s been proposed in the NC Senate.  In an interview, Mecklenberg County Commissioner Bill James, a supporter of the bill, said of LGBT people in North Carolina, “We don’t want them here.” Equality North Carolina’s Ian Palmquist responds: “It’s about writing discrimination into our state constitution and making LGBT people second class citizens in our own state. It’s time for North Carolina’s leaders to take a stand against the intolerance put forward by Bill James and the anti-gay industry.” To oppose this bill, connect to Equality NC’s Action Center.
