“State of Equality:” March 6, 2:30 – 4:30 PM in Asheville

February 28, 2011 in Events by Jasmine Beach-Ferrara

GetEqual NC and Blue Ridge Pride are hosting the “State of Equality” this Sunday, March 6, 2011 from 2:30 – 4:00 PM at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Asheville at 1 Edwin Place.

With all the recent developments about LGBT rights in NC and nationally, the timing couldn’t be better. CSE is proud to support our partners in hosting this community event and will have a presence there.

“Headlining the panel for the event are ACLU attorney Christine Sun who assisted in writing the anti-bullying legislation for North Carolina, Constance McMillen who made headlines when she challenged her Mississippi school district’s discriminatory decision to bar her from being her partner to her senior prom, as well as national GetEqual activist Dan Fotou. The event will also include the opportunity to network with local and state groups with opportunities to address barriers and you can help make a difference. Following the conference, Pack’s Tavern will be hosting the panelists with an opportunity for more casual discussion for attendees.” More info is available here.
