Town Hall: Healthcare Access for Trans Youth & Understanding Recent Clinic Closures in NC

March 10, 2026 in Uncategorized by Emma Chinn

In response to a surge of anti-transgender attacks from the federal government, some clinics that serve transgender young people in North Carolina, including UNC Health and Advocate Health,  have announced that they are ceasing gender-affirming care for youth under 19, or are no longer accepting new youth patients. We know this is a confusing time for many families and caregivers in the region, so we’re hosting a community Town Hall to break down what’s happening, the legal landscape, and tangible resources to help impacted families locate new providers.

This event will be hosted by Equality NC, Charlotte Trans Health, and the Campaign for Southern Equality’s Trans Youth Emergency Project.

Fill out the form below to RSVP to our virtual Town Hall about changes to gender-affirming care for trans youth in North Carolina – on Tuesday, March 17th at 6:00 PM EST. The Town Hall will take place on Zoom, and even if you can’t attend in real-time, a summary of what was discussed will be sent to all RSVPs after the event.

Need immediate support? If you need help finding providers of gender-affirming care unimpacted by recent restriction – or funding for travel, please get in touch here.
